Schematic: i263.photobucket.com Homemade cassette player built from scratch. It uses a cassette mechanism from a portable cassette recorder. The unit has outputs for both an external speaker and external amplifier or other device. Both of these modes are demonstrated in the video. Sound from the speaker was recorded using a shotgun condenser microphone and sound from the output was recorded directly to the camcorder as shown in the video. The audio cassette was pre-recorded on a Sony dual cassette deck from the original mix. The stereo tracks on the cassette tape were mixed to mono by the tape head in the player. www.freewebs.com

This is my trustable hi-fi stereo cassette deck recorder / player, that I purchased brand new in 1982. It still is in perfect conditions and works fine. It has Dolby B NR and accepts Chrome (CrO2) type tapes for extend response. I recorded the audio directly from the cassette deck player's output to the line input of my digital recorder. Here I was demonstrating some old hits tapes that I recorded from vinyl LPs. The warm sound of magnetic tapes is unbeatable.

The world's best cassette player/recorder. And it also has TRUE auto-reverse. There seems to be a debate over which has the best sound, the DRAGON or the CR-7. Both are made by NAKAMICHI. The DRAGON list price was $2499.00 new in 1982. It was built from 1982 to 1993.

Nakamichi 1000 ZXL Cassette Deck Parts Core. It runs, plays, sounds excellent. It records, etc. There seems to be display LED issues with segments/lights out. I am sure it needs head cleaning, belts, caps, refurb, etc. Sold entirely as-is for parts.
